Division of paedodontics of the Faculty of Dental Sciences holds a unique position as the sole specialists unit in Sri Lanka, for paediatric oral health care. This division provides and assesses, knowledge and skills with regards to oral health care in child and adolescent patients under the age of 16 years. As an integral component of community dental health, we promote education and clinical experience to under graduates, post graduates, foreign graduates as well as dental auxiliaries.

Division of paedodontics facilitates numerous services to the patients, by means of comprehensive dental care. This includes, restorative, prosthetic, periodontal and basic surgical procedures. Advanced facilities such as general anaesthesia and sedation are enabled, under special circumstances . This division is customized as a child friendly environment where child patients with varying developmental and medical conditions are tended to, while obtaining paediatric medical opinion, when deemed necessary.
