Courses


Course admission and selection Students were recruited each year for Diploma in Dental Assisting programme. Application to the course admission will be published in the newspapers. Following criteria is considered for a valid admission.
General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) or an equivalent qualification
or
A foundation course equivalent to SLQF 2 followed by passing an aptitude test
or
Accredited three years work experience as DSA acceptable to the Board of management of DATS

Further those applicants are interviewed by an interview board appointed by DATS board. The selection is done based on education qualifications, extra-curricular activities, knowledge of English and performance at the interview.

Course content
The course has one-year duration and it separated basically in to two semesters. The course is conducted as a full-time study programme that consists of lectures, demonstrations, discussions and practices. The overview of course content as follows;
    Semester 01 -
  • English
  • Foundation (general anatomy, dental anatomy, basic histology, basic physiology and basic pharmacology), First Aid and Basic Life Support.
  • Dental Biomaterial Science
  • Professionalism, Communication Skills and Oral Health Education
  • Infection Control and Occupational Safety
  • Assisting in Dental Radiography
  • Basic Chair-Side Assisting
  • Chair-Side Assisting I – General Dentistry

    Semester 02 -
  • English
  • Information Technology
  • Chair-Side Assisting II – Fixed and Removable Prosthesis
  • Chair-Side Assisting III – Endodontics and Periodontics
  • Chair-Side Assisting IV – Clinical and Diagnostic Oral Sciences
  • Chair-Side Assisting V – Child and Adolescent Oral Health Care

Fees and Payments
Amount of fees for different courses are determined by the Faculty board on the recommendation of DATS board of management. Fee for the course as given below. (Note: please note that below fees could be subject to change without prior notice)
Registration fees= Rs.5000/=
Course fees = Rs.125000/=

Students were recruited each year for Higher Diploma in Dental Technology programme. Application to the course admission will be published in the newspapers. Following criteria is considered for a valid admission.
Minimum of a “Pass” for English Language at the GCE (O/L) examination and passed three subjects at the GCE (A/L) examination or equivalent exam followed by passing an aptitude test
or
Completion of NVQF level 5 as determined by Dental Auxiliary Training School or foundation course equivalent to SLQF level 2 followed by passing an aptitude test may concerned may also be considered as an equivalent qualification in that field of specialization
or
Accredited three-year work experience as dental technician followed by passing an aptitude test acceptable to the Board of Management of the DATs

  • Occlusion, Mal-occlussion and Basic Wire Bending
  • Record Blocks, Articulators and Occlusion in Artificial Dentition
  • Processing and Adjustment of Denture Base Materials

  • Removable Appliance Design
  • Removable Appliances Construction and Repair
  • Functional Appliance Construction
  • Fixed Appliances
  • Metal Casting and Porcelain Processing

  • Semester 03 -
  • Partial Denture Design
  • Partial Denture Construction
  • Complete Denture Construction and Repair
  • Immediate Denture, Over Denture and Denture Copying
  • Maxillo – Facial Prosthesis
  • Provitional Restorations, Mouth Guards and Trays

  • Semester 04-
    Full Metal Restorations
    Porcelain Crowns and Veneers
    Porcelain-Fused to Metal (PFM) Crown and Post Crown Bridge
    Implant Supported Bridges and Precision Attachments
