The Division of Microbiology at the Faculty of Dental Sciences was established in 1998 with the opening of the new Faculty / Dental Hospital complex. Division of Microbiology is involved in teaching of Microbiology (Basic, Medical and Oral Microbiology) and Immunology to undergraduate and postgraduate students. Clinical microbiology diagnostic services are also provided for the Dental teaching hospital and the intensive care unit. Further this division conducts various research projects spanning from natural pharmaceutical products to clinical trials in oral microbiology. Moreover, Division of Microbiology is actively involved in research pertaining to clinical and industrial microbiology.
