The division of Dental Anatomy and histology is responsible for teaching Dental Embryology, Dental Histology, and Dental Anatomy to undergraduate Dental students. Academic programme is based on two broad topics, teeth and supporting structures and oral biology. Under teeth and supporting structures, students are taught; recognition of intra oral and extra oral anatomical landmarks, the crown and pulp morphology of all permanent and deciduous teeth, tooth development and eruption, development and structure of all oral tissues including enamel, dentin, cementum, pulp, periodontal ligament, alveolar bone, in detail with their clinical relevance. Comparative Dental Anatomy, specially the comparison of teeth and jaws of different groups of animals are also included. Under the oral biology, development and post natal growth of the skull and jaws, structure and function of mucosa, salivary glands, temporomandibular joint and occlusion are taught in detail with their clinical relevance.
