The Department of Oral Pathology at the Faculty of Dental Sciences is established on the 3rd floor of the Dental Teaching Hospital. Our department is committed to excel in undergraduate and postgraduate education, diagnostic oral pathology service and research.
An academic staff of seven members, two senior house officers, four technical officers and five other academic support staff members contribute to create a collegial and satisfying professional environment to achieve the goals of the department. Our academic staff has expertise that covers all topics of Oral and General Pathology. The pathology teaching programme spans from 3rd to 8th semesters with General Pathology taught incorporated into Human Disease (HD) courses and Oral Pathology in Clinical and Diagnostic Oral Sciences (CDOS) courses.
The rich source of resource available in the departmental archives together with facilities for advanced molecular, immunohistochemical and immunofluorescent techniques contribute to make the department a fertile soil for research with placements available for postgraduate research degrees. The department is also affiliated with the Center for Research in Oral Cancer (CROC) where most of the research related to oral cancer is carried out.
