Location

Division of Oral Medicine and Radiology is housed in the ground floor of the B building of the Faculty of Dental Sciences. 

Consultants/Academic staff members presently attached to the Division.

Dr. PVKS Hettiarachchi (BDS, MD ( Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery)

In addition, there are post graduate trainees attached to PGIM, about two House Officers/ Senior House Officers and academic staff on temporary basis and three radiographers (From Ministry of Health) attached to the Division to provide much needed service function for the patients. Undergraduate dental students communicate with pre-selected patients for their training requirement under the direct supervision of the academic staff.

Available services:

  • Diagnosis and treatment of Oral and Maxillofacial diseases, Oral manifestation of systemic disease and Oral diseases causing Systemic diseases – Especially medical management of patients with Oral potentially malignant diseases and Oral cancer.
  • Provide Oral care of medically complex patients receiving treatment for cancer, Diabetes, Infectious disease etc.,
  • Tobacco cessation clinic – This clinic provides dedicated service for habit intervention in patients with the habit of betel chewing.
  • Occlusal splints - As part of a treatment for tempero-mandibular joint disorders
  • Investigations specific to salivary gland diseases – Sialograms, Sialometry
  • Laboratory Services -  haematological investigations
  • Ultra Sound scanning of the head and neck region
  • Imaging and radiographic interpretation of oral and maxillofacial disease using newer and advance maxillofacial imaging and radiographic techniques - Performs all types of dental radiographs – IOPA, Bite wing, Occlusal radiographs,TMJ views, OPG/DPT, Cephalograms, including Cone beam CT scans 

 

 


Normal clinical hours

would be from 8.30 am to 12 noon in the morning session and
1.30 -   4 pm in the afternoon session on each working day from Monday to Friday except Tuesday afternoon where the clinic would be closed for cleaning purposes.
On Saturdays, the clinic functions from 8.30 am to 12 noon (Only the morning session)
