Department of Comprehensive Oral Health Care was established in 2019 as part of the major revision of the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) curriculum which transform four-year programme into five-year programme comprising ten semesters.
The department provides an integrated clinical training environment in which students apply the knowledge and skills acquired from the various disciplines of dentistry to the comprehensive management of patients. Students are trained to assess patients, formulate appropriate treatment plans, coordinate and provide different aspects of dental treatment, and manage patients through a comprehensive and integrated approach. This experience enables students to move beyond isolated, discipline-based treatment and develop the clinical judgement and confidence required for independent professional practice.
Through this integrated approach, the department contributes significantly to the faculty objective of producing competent, confident and professionally responsible dental graduates who are equipped to provide comprehensive oral healthcare and practice independently upon graduation.
