Department of OMF Surgery extends its services over three operating theatres, an Intensive care unit, a 4 bed High dependency unit, a 50 bed ward, a specialists OMF Surgical clinic, 18 chair student clinic, 2 monthly multidisciplinary clinics and a speech therapy clinic. Department of OMF Surgery serves as a tertiary referral centre for the entire country especially for the management of oral cancers, maxillo-facial trauma, congenital facial abnormalities, orthogenetic problems and many other complicated dental, facial, sinus, fore-head & neck disorders. This is the country’s leading centre for cleft lip and palate correction surgeries. A large number of advanced oral and facial cancer patients are referred to this hospital where they undergo various cancer resections and facial reconstructive surgeries ranging from microvascular free flaps, or transferred flaps like Pectoralis major flaps to Primary closures. General surgeries are also performed once a week in the Dental Hospital by the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya.
