
The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Faculty of Dental Sciences, University of Peradeniya, successfully concluded its 5-day Intensive Microvascular Surgery Training Workshop, held from 13th–17th July 2026.
This annual hands-on training programme was conducted with the invaluable support of our visiting Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery colleagues from the United Kingdom:
Mr. Sajid Sainuddin, Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon and Clinical Director for the OMFS Managed Single Service, Manchester Royal Infirmary
Mr. Matthew Thomas, Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, Royal Derby Hospital.
The workshop reflects the long-standing academic collaboration between our department and our colleagues from Manchester and Derby, strengthening surgical education and advancing patient care.

This continuing partnership is instrumental in developing advanced reconstructive surgical skills, promoting knowledge exchange, and enhancing the quality of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training in Sri Lanka.
