The Faculty of Dental Sciences, University of Peradeniya proudly extends its warmest congratulations to Dr. Nadisha Piyarathne and Dr. Dilini Rathnayake for their outstanding achievements at the 93rd Annual Scientific Sessions of the Sri Lanka Dental Association (SLDA), held at Cinnamon Life, Colombo, on 26 June 2026. The event was graced by the Hon. Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya and the Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Hasanka Wijemuni.
Dr. Nadisha Piyarathne delivered the prestigious Prof. S. B. Dissanayake Memorial Oration, titled “Illuminating the Invisible: The Future of Oral Cancer Detection at the Intersection of Molecules and Machines.” Her inspiring presentation was highly acclaimed by the dental community. She also made history by becoming the youngest academic to deliver this distinguished memorial oration at the SLDA Annual Scientific Sessions.
Dr. Dilini Rathnayake was honoured with the Best Research Article Award for 2025 in recognition of her outstanding publication titled “Design of a salitogenic mHealth intervention to promote oral health among 15-year old adolecents in Kandy district : A quantitative study.”
These remarkable accomplishments reflect the dedication, innovation, and academic excellence of our faculty members. They reaffirm the Faculty of Dental Sciences, as not only a leading institution for dental education in Sri Lanka but also a pioneer in dental research and scientific innovation.
