In order to accept an application for ethics review, at least one of the investigators must belong to
at least one of the following categories:
1. A member of the academic staff of the University of Peradeniya.
2. Undergraduate and postgraduate students of any recognized institution.
3. A researcher who is conducting a research project related to oral health.
Research projects of the following types are considered:
1. Oral health/biomedical research involving human participants or their specimens or data
2. Healthcare systems research including health policy.
3. Animal research conducted to study questions that are relevant to human health.
** If the committee feels that the research project is beyond the expertise of the committee the
project will be returned to the researcher.
